UK Guardian “Nigerian Army is in a Shocking State”

An article in today’s Guardian newspaper has a damning assessment of the Nigerian army, It claims there is “a lack of training and discipline among Nigerian troops”. Nigerian troops are being relied upon as part of a regional ECOWAS force to oust Islamist fighters from northern Mali.

The report also alleges that “Nigerian forces lack training and kit, so they simply don’t have the capability to carry out even basic military manoeuvres…They have poor discipline and support.”  Read the full report below.

  1. Why on earth would Nigeria even contemplate sending troops to Mali when she has her own Islamists to deal with? The UK is just egging Nigeria into an unwanted war so Nigeria will spend its meager resources buying arms and weapons from Britain to shore up the latters faltering economy.Never again. This is not Nigeria’s war.If you connect the dots properly Libya has everything to do with Mali and who was responsible for Libya? The West!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Africom can and should fight the Malian Islamist as this is a direct response to their foray into the continent.NATO too.

    1. Nigeria’s army has lots of peacekeeping experience (Sierra Leone, Liberia, Darfur, Lebanon etc).
